When we moved in we had a very small porch off the back of the house. It fell apart very quickly to the point that it was unsafe to use… even for the dogs.
We tore it down and over the course of 2 days, Hubby and I put up a new porch.
It has the neatest flower boxes all the way around. I was unsuccessful with flowers this year so my boxes are pretty much empty.
Removing the old porch hardware from the house has left a few holes in the siding. Those will be gradually fixed as we continue to work on the outside of the house around the new porch. If you look in the picture of the new porch (above) you will see that we are in the process of replacing the old gutters. The outside of the house is pretty much tore up in one stage or another of remodel. Quite overwhelming. We probably won’t replace the front porch until next spring…. just can’t do everything this year. We already have too many projects in the works right now… gutter, front landscaping, back yard landscaping. Stay tune for updates on those in the coming weeks.
We love our back porch. On not too warm afternoons, I will bring a chair out on the porch and soak up the sun. In the evenings we like to just stand and listen to the activities of the neighborhood. It was a fun project to work on together. I got a new drill set for my tool box out of the project (Yes, I have my own tool box).
