Christmas Sugar Cookies

I make these every year.  A basic sugar cookie with fun colorful sprinkles.

The beautiful thing about this recipe is… it doesn’t need to be chilled. I highly recommend mixing up the dough in a counter top mixer. It is a stiff dough and your arms might get tired from stirring.

Roll out the dough just less than 1/4 inch thick (or thinner if you desire). Remember to flour your rolling surface first.

You can add candy sprinkles before baking or decorate with icing after baking.

Baking instructions and oven temp are below.

Instructions
  1. Start by mixing together the butter, sugar, vanilla and the egg.
  2. Next add the baking powder and then slowly add the flour.
  3. You can chill this dough recipe if you want but it is not necessary. You can roll out the dough immediately.
  4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and mark out the cut out cookies.
  5. Decorate the cookies with sugar sprinkles or leave plain for baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes. You just want the edges to be a light golden brown.
  6. Remove the cookies fairly promptly after baking. Allow them to cool on a cooling rack.
  7. Once they are completely cool, you can decorate them with icing.
