Shining a Stainless Steel Sink

One of the things I like to do either before the weekend or before a holiday is to shine my stainless sink.

Here is what you will need:

  • Clean dish or microfiber cloth
  • Bottle of 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water
  • Box of baking soda
  • Water
  • Paper Towels or a second fabric cloth

Start with a wet sink… rinse out as much food as possible before starting.  Spray the entire sink with the vinegar solution. Wipe the sink out with the cloth.  Focus you energy on tough stains and around the faucet and drain. Drains can get quite icky.

Sprinkle on baking soda.  This will get rid of tougher stains. Any stains that don’t come off the first time… sprinkle more baking soda on and let it sit for a few minutes.  I have used baking soda to removed grape juice and coffee stains off the sink and counters.

Now rinse very well. The baking soda might leave a milky residue.  Just rinse again.

Spray a bit more vinegar solution over all of the surfaces.  Wipe dry with a paper or clean cloth towel.  This will add to the shine.

Now you have a clean sink with no harsh chemicals.
