I have a nice sized kitchen with a good amount of cupboards. Unfortunately, my cooking and dish collections do not fit in my kitchen. If you look at my Pinterest boards you will see I like Pyrex baking dishes and bowls, depression glass, transfer ware, corning ware and Wexford pressed glass. I collect them all and they were spilling out of my kitchen cupboards in our old house. Hubby knew I would need a storage solution in the new house. This wire shelf was one of the first things he put together when we moved.
This is my latest way to arrange them… for beauty and for accessibility.
When I am setting a table for a meal, I know where to find my sherbet glasses or my green depression glass pitcher. The blue transferware collection on the third shelf was too big for my hutch the day I was given it. We use it on the weekends to make meals extra special.
The clear glass is Wexford (pressed glass). It is sturdy. I have dropped it on the floor and it didn’t break. I have too many pieces of Wexford to even begin counting.
My latest collection is my corning ware. I used it for serving food and for cooking food…so practical and cleans up nice. Different sizes are a must. I am still collecting glass lids. The radish themed cookie jar on the bottom shelf was my grandmothers. She never stored cookies in there (if I remember correctly– grocery store bread bags).
I am trying to stay within the same pattern or color as I scour the thrift and antique stores. It isn’t always easy. The yellow baking dish on the second shelf was out of the color and pattern norm… but it had to go home with me. Yes, I do have a bit of an addiction.
I am a firm believer in having just the right mixing bowl or baking dish.
